2. Required Documents Checklist
You must bring original documents (no photocopies) to the DLD.
- Proof of Identity: (e.g., Certified U.S. Birth Certificate or valid Passport).
- Social Security Number: (e.g., Social Security Card or W-2 form).
- Residency: Two documents showing your name and Utah physical address (e.g., utility bill, bank statement) dated within 90 days.
- Parental Consent: If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign for financial responsibility.
3. Rules for Drivers Under 18
Utah’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) program ensures you gain experience safely.
- Holding Period: You must hold your learner permit for at least 6 months.
- Driver Education: You are required to complete a state-approved driver education course.
- Practice Hours: You must log 40 hours of supervised driving, with at least 10 hours completed at night.
