Parking Rules

When parking, always set your hand brake and secure your vehicle by placing an automatic transmission in “Park” or a manual transmission in reverse or low gear. On a hill, turn your wheels appropriately: away from the curb when facing uphill, and toward the curb when facing downhill, to prevent the vehicle from rolling into traffic.

Parking is prohibited in many areas, including within 10 feet of a fire hydrant, 25 feet of a crosswalk, 50 feet of a railroad crossing, and on sidewalks or crosswalks. Colored curbs also indicate regulations: red means no parking, blue is for accessible parking, and white is for passenger loading and unloading.
