Chapter 3: Parking Rules

Knowing how to park a vehicle legally and safely is a fundamental aspect of driver responsibility. Proper parking ensures that traffic can flow smoothly, pedestrians are safe, and emergency vehicles have unobstructed access when every second counts. General Parking Rules

Whenever parking, a motorist must ensure the vehicle is secure and does not pose a hazard. This involves following specific procedures for different situations, such as parking on an incline or in designated spaces.

Securing the Vehicle

Always set the hand brake (parking brake) after parking. For vehicles with an automatic transmission, the gear selector should be in Park. For vehicles with a manual transmission, the vehicle should be in reverse when parked facing downhill and in low gear when parked facing uphill.
