Sharing the Road

As a driver, you have a responsibility to protect vulnerable road users. You must yield to pedestrians in all crosswalks and exercise extreme caution around blind pedestrians using a white cane or guide dog. Give bicyclists and motorcyclists plenty of space when passing, as they are less visible and more vulnerable in a crash.

Large trucks and buses have extensive blind spots, or “No-Zones,” so avoid lingering beside or behind them. It is illegal to pass a school bus that has stopped with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended; traffic from both directions must stop. When approaching a stationary emergency vehicle with flashing lights, you must move over a lane or slow down significantly.
