Navigating the Roads
Right-of-way rules determine who must yield in various situations. At an uncontrolled intersection, the vehicle on the left must yield to the vehicle on the right. When entering a roadway from a driveway or when merging, you must yield to traffic already on the road. Pedestrians in crosswalks always have the right-of-way, and you must yield to emergency vehicles using lights and sirens by pulling over to the right.
When making turns, signal at least 100 feet in advance and yield to pedestrians and oncoming traffic. U-turns are only legal if they can be made safely and are often prohibited in business districts or where visibility is limited. In roundabouts, vehicles already in the circle have the right-of-way; you must yield before entering and signal before exiting.
