Sharing the Road

Drivers must share the road safely with vulnerable users like bicyclists and pedestrians. When passing a bicyclist, you must allow at least three feet of safety space. It is illegal to drive in a bicycle lane or park in one. Motorcycles are entitled to a full lane width, and you should never move into the same lane alongside them. Increase your following distance behind motorcycles because they can stop faster than cars.

Large trucks have extensive blind spots called “No-Zones” where the driver cannot see you. Avoid driving alongside large trucks for long periods and leave extra space when they make wide turns.
