Parking Rules

When parking, always engage your parking brake and shift into “park” (or low gear/reverse for manual transmissions). On a hill, turn your wheels appropriately: toward the curb when facing downhill, and away from the curb when facing uphill, to prevent your vehicle from rolling. If there is no curb, always turn your wheels to the right.

Parking is prohibited in specific areas for safety reasons, including on crosswalks, within intersections, in front of driveways, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, and within 30 feet of a STOP sign. Colored curbs also indicate restrictions, such as red for no parking at any time and blue for accessible parking reserved for vehicles with a valid disability placard or plate.
