Sharing Kansas Roadways
Motorists in Kansas must share the road with vulnerable users, including bicyclists and motorcyclists. Bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motor vehicles; when passing them, allow ample space and do not turn sharply in front of them. Motorcycles are entitled to use a full lane width, and cars should never attempt to share a lane with a motorcycle.
Drivers must also be aware of large commercial trucks and their “No-Zones”—large blind spots located at the front, rear, and sides of the truck. If you cannot see the truck driver’s face in their side mirror, they cannot see you. Avoid lingering in these zones to prevent accidents.
