Statutory Speed Limits in Hawaii
When no speed limit is posted, Hawaii law sets default “statutory” speed limits. These include 25 mph in active school zones and residential districts, 45 mph on two-lane highways, and 60 mph on interstate highways—the lowest maximum interstate speed in the U.S.
It is illegal to drive so slowly that you impede the normal and reasonable flow of traffic. On multi-lane highways, the left lane is for passing, and driving too slowly in it can create a dangerous situation.
