Navigating the Roads

Right-of-way rules dictate who must yield to avoid collisions. At a four-way stop, the first vehicle to arrive goes first; if two arrive simultaneously, the vehicle on the right has the right-of-way. You must always yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and to emergency vehicles using sirens and lights.

When making turns, signal at least 100 feet in advance. For left turns, yield to oncoming traffic. U-turns are legal unless a sign prohibits them or the maneuver is unsafe. In roundabouts, yield to traffic already in the circle and signal before you exit.
