Alaska License Renewal and Duplicates

Alaska driver’s licenses expire on your birthday and are typically valid for either 5 or 8 years. You can renew your license online, by mail, or in-person up to one year before it expires. If your license has been expired for over a year, you will likely need to retake the written test.

If your license is lost, stolen, or damaged, you must visit a DMV office in person to get a duplicate. You will need to provide proper identification to obtain a replacement.

Short, focused summaries of Alaska driving rules — easy to review before your test.
