Parking Rules
When parking, always set your parking brake, turn off the engine, and ensure a manual transmission is in gear or an automatic is in “Park.” When parking on a hill, turn your wheels appropriately: away from the curb when facing uphill, and toward the curb when facing downhill, to prevent the vehicle from rolling into traffic.
It is illegal to park in numerous locations, including within intersections, crosswalks, bicycle lanes, in front of driveways, or within 10 feet of a fire hydrant. Always look for colored curb markings: red means no stopping, yellow is for commercial loading, white is for passenger pickup, and blue is reserved for accessible parking with a valid permit.
