License Classes
Hawaii issues four main classes of non-commercial driver’s licenses, each authorizing you to operate a specific type of vehicle. Class 1 is for mopeds, Class 2 for motorcycles, Class 3 for standard passenger cars and light trucks, and Class 4 for heavier vehicles like RVs.
To obtain a Class 4 license, you must be at least 21, already hold a valid Class 3 license, and pass a vision test. You will also need to submit a medical examiner’s certificate and provide a clearance letter if you have any outstanding traffic citations.
