Georgia GDL Program
Georgia’s GDL program, TADRA, is a three-step process to help young drivers gain experience safely. It begins with a Class CP permit at age 15, which requires a supervising driver. The next step is a Class D license at 16, which has major restrictions on passengers and prohibits driving between midnight and 6 a.m.
To get a full Class C license, a driver must be 18 and have held a Class D license for a full year with no major traffic convictions. The program is designed to reduce accidents by gradually introducing new drivers to the road with increasing privileges.
