Continue your preparation with this second free test, which emphasizes common driving situations and traffic signals. The exam presents 30 questions selected from a pool of 50, and you must score at least 23 to pass. Use this practice session to identify areas where you need more study before the real exam.
Indiana Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) Program
The GDL program is a multi-stage process for drivers under 21, starting with a learner’s permit. To get a permit at ages 15-16, you must be enrolled in a driver training program; at 16 or older, you must pass vision and knowledge exams. Permit holders must always be accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 25 (or a spouse 21 or older) in the front passenger seat.
The next stage is a probationary license, which has important restrictions. For the first 180 days, driving is prohibited between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.; after that, curfews apply for drivers under 18. Probationary drivers are also completely prohibited from using any telecommunications device while driving, except for 911 calls.
