New Jersey License Renewal and Duplicates
A standard New Jersey driver’s license is valid for four years. You can typically renew it online, by mail, or in person, with a renewal notice sent beforehand. Even if the notice suggests an in-person visit, most individuals are eligible for the more convenient online renewal option.
If your license is lost, stolen, or destroyed, you can apply for a duplicate at a Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) agency. You will need to present documents for the 6 Points of ID verification and pay a fee. Note that for security reasons, duplicate licenses are now mailed to you and are no longer printed on the spot.
