Parking Rules

When parking, always set the parking brake and shift an automatic transmission into “Park” or a manual into first or reverse gear. Exit your vehicle safely, using the curb side when possible, and check for traffic before opening the door.

On a public road, park parallel to the curb and within 18 inches of it. Angle parking is only allowed in designated areas.

Short, focused summaries of Maine driving rules — easy to review before your test.
