Mississippi Graduated Driver Licensing Program

Mississippi’s GDL program is a two-stage process for drivers aged 15 to 17. The first stage is a Learner’s Permit, obtainable at age 15 after passing vision and written tests. With a permit, you must drive under the supervision of a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old and complete at least 50 hours of supervised driving, including 15 hours at night.

You can apply for a Full, Unrestricted License after holding your permit for at least one year. If you are 17, you may be eligible before the full year is up. Nighttime driving restrictions are lifted after six months or when you turn 18.
