BAC Limits in California
California has “per se” BAC limits, meaning you are automatically in violation if you meet or exceed them. For drivers 21 and over, the limit is 0.08%. For commercial drivers, it is 0.04%.
For drivers under 21, a “Zero Tolerance” law makes it illegal to drive with a BAC of 0.01% or higher. Drivers on DUI probation are also prohibited from driving with any measurable amount of alcohol (0.01% or more).
